Authoress, KMoniquè began her writing journey in 2020 during the pandemic. This is when she self-published her book, The Day I Met My Boaz. Through all of the tumultuous relationships in her life, this includes family, friends, and paramours, she knew that she had to change her trajectory. She knew that change was eminent and that it was imperative that she makes immediate changes that would last a lifetime. Since publishing her first book, she has gone on to publish many other titles. She has also participated in anthologies that kept the spark for writing.

Accomplishments and Awards

Authoress, KMoniquè graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from DeVry University, in October 2009. She was contacted by one of the Dean of Students’, who was conducting interviews on racial and familial disparities and intergenerational effects of systemic barriers. After telling her story, she was nominated and selected to win the Abe Lincoln Perseverance Award. She later attended Argosy University where she earned a Master’s of Arts in Forensic Psychology. She is currently working on a second Master’s in Social Work at Simmons University. She has approximately 16 years of experience working with at-risk youth and families in the criminal justice field and as a case manager.

On a personal level and as an upcoming social worker, Authoress, KMoniquè seeks to continue breaking the barriers of intergenerational effects and systemic inequities in housing and wealth accumulation, which requires comprehensive strategies aimed at addressing root causes and promoting equitable opportunities for all individuals and communities. By adopting a multifaceted approach that addresses both historical injustices and contemporary challenges, society, as a whole, can work towards breaking the barriers of intergenerational effects and systemic inequities in housing and wealth accumulation. These efforts are essential for fostering inclusive and equitable communities where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive and prosper, regardless of race or ethnicity.
